Things to see and do in Ballarat
Ballarat has much to offer including several Avenues of Honour, many Statues & Monuments and one of the finest Botanical Gardens in Australia. Ballarat is also known for its heritage buildings, some date back to the 1860s. Some destinations for visitors include Lake Wendouree (home of the rowing events for the 1956 Olympics), Sovereign Hill (see more info below), Ballarat Wildlife Park, the Eureka Centre and Ballarat Tramway Museum.

Sovereign Hill
Sovereign Hill is a popular attraction, depicting Ballarat's first ten years after the discovery of gold, in 1851. It is located at Ballarat, Victoria within Australia. First officially opened on 29 November 1970 on a 25 hectare site liked to the richest alluvial goldrush in the world.
